We’re talking with the set dresser for “Like Son” - Jennifer Robinson.

Jennifer

The movie “Like Son” has kicked off the film mentorship program at John Schneider Studios. In this post, we’re talking to Jennifer Robinson. She’s been a part of the film program, through her work as set dresser for the movie.

Q. Jennifer, have you always had a knack for design?
A. I have a degree in interior design, so it’s always been a hobby, but I hope I can turn it into a career. I love it.

Q. What’s been the most interesting aspect of your job with “Like Son”?
A. All of it … we’ve gone out bought materials for what was needed. Each day has been about meeting the requirements of the script. I think the most interesting is taking the words on the page and bringing them to life – really seeing John’s vision.

Q. Tell us what you’ve done on this movie.
A. Starting out, it was just two different sets, and one of the sets has evolved back and forth in time.

The biggest change was transforming the gym into a country church with a funeral scene – from pews to flower arrangements to a church bulletin board. All on a shoestring budget!

Q. Has the job been what you thought it would be?
A. Everyone has been so easy to work with and responsive to questions. It’s been a great experience.

Q. What’s your impression of John and the studios?
A. John is obviously kind, very approachable, and very easy to work with. Everyone at the studio has been super friendly and very open. It’s been a great experience.
