Shakespeare in the Swamp

John Schneider Studios and Maven Entertainment are devoted to the celebration of storytelling through film, theatre and musical performances. Shakespeare in the Swamp will be held at the studio, August 27th, 28th and 29th. There will be three days of performances from local actors and musicians, on a stage set up in the center of the studio barn.

The feature presentation will be “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, with John’s son, Chasen Schneider, cast as one of the leads. The legendary, Perry Martin, from the Bayou Playhouse will be directing the play. He says, “A Louisiana themed interpretation of Shakespeare’s most popular play, is a concept that’s intrigued me for years. Putting this together in a barn, very old school and raw, for a premiere Shakespearean Festival, was too much of a challenge to pass up.”

Tickets (24.99) are on sale through EventBrite. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Livingston Parish School System and The Bayou Playhouse. Schneider says, “This is a way to give back to the local artistic community. We’re excited about that.”
