Faydra Thomas is having a great time at J.S.S., starting off as a production assistant, and now working as an assistant production coordinator. She’s involved in a movie project, which is part of the film mentorship program at the studio.

The J.S.S. team has been so impressed with Faydra, that she continues to take on a number of other tasks around the film. We talked with her to find out about her J.S.S. adventures.

Q. Faydra, how have your job duties evolved since you first started?
A. I’m doing more multi-tasking. Now I work with props, and I’m assisting with paperwork in the office, when the shooting schedule permits.

Q. Tell us about your day-to-day activities at the studio and on the set.
A. As soon as I arrive at the studio, I check in with Ms. Monica [Director of Production]. She lets me know what we’re doing. I usually start my morning with looking over the props to make sure that everything is in place, and my day usually ends when I update our lists for props, cast, crew, etc.

Q. What’s the most important thing John has taught you, since working together?
A. I actually have learned little tricks to capture sound, as well as a cool trick to make it look the moon is shinning. His methods definitely bring the phrase “think smarter, not harder” to mind.

Q. What’s been the most exciting aspect of working on this movie?
A. I don’t want spoil anything about the movie, but I actually witnessed a stunt less than 10 feet away from me! And meeting everyone is also a plus.

Q. What’s the next step for you after working on this movie?
A. Hopefully continuing to work with John Schneider Studios and on other movies. I absolutely love it. John and his circle are simply amazing.

Q. Is there anything you want to add about your experience at J.S.S.?
A. The atmosphere there is awesome. The set is very relaxed. Everything flows. John is a visionary.
